My husband left me 16years ago I have been paying the mortgage myself .his name is still on the mortgage . I want to change my mortgage as the intrest rate is crippling me . But nationwide refused to help me as I need my husbands consent to do this I don’t know where he is and due to the constant rate hikes I am now in arrears. Again I asked for help and again refused due to my husband . It’s so unfair and my mortgage provider is constantly on my back I can’t even sell with out his agreement . Please what can I do ? Thank you Ree

Hi, I am having a similar issue but my ex just won't get in contact with them, in fact he has changed his contact information to my Step Dad's number?!, anyway.... try contacting the Nationwide foreberance team call 01604680437 and ask for foreberance, they advised me that they would try to contact the joint mortgage owner but if he does not communicate they will work with the person who is communicating to come to some arrangement and a way to help with the arrears etc.
I hope this helps x

You would need to go to court or try to find a way to find him.
Presumably you know some of his family, this will be affecting him so he will want his name off the mortgage but the fact you are in arrears might make it difficult to switch products or take him off the mortgage.

You need to take him off the mortgage deed before you can take him off the mortgage. Will he agree to giving up his share in the property? If the answer is no, then you need this agreement to remortgage and he needs to go on it. The mortgage needs to reflect the named people on the deed.0
