Different national insurance numbers
dbs
Got two pension quotes from two different DB providers. The oldest one started in 1980 has quoted my national insurance number with a letter D at the end.
My other one started in 2007 has the letter B at the end same as my national insurance number on the government website should I be concerned?

You need to contact the provider with the wrong number to get it sorted as it could cause a problem when putting the pension into payment.

Nothing to be concerned about, just elt them know, they may ask for evidence to change it.
Somebody many moons ago likely wrote your NI number down wrong on a form somewhere which has been used ever since1 -
Something similar happened to me. It turned out my company had been using the wrong NI number (again just the incorrect letter at the end) for many years due to a 'fat-finger error'. Luckily it turns out that letter is not too important, and they were able to easily change it back with no impact on my pension or tax implications. So I agree with Tommyjw, let them know and I'm sure they can sort it out.1

The end letter is of no real importance anymore.

Been in contact with DWP they have confirmed my NI and personal tax is showing a B on their website that I can access but when they search their database I cannot access for my NI it comes up as a D so have sent me a letter confirming my NI number ends in D.2
