How to obtain replacement HMRC self assessment activation code?

My activation code for self assessment has not arrived in the post after three weeks. Their help section says I can request a new one but I cannot find where to do that on Gateway - I get into a loop with it wanting the 12 digit code. Can someone please help?

    sign in to HMRC services to request a new code

    https://www.gov.uk/log-in-register-hmrc-online-services

    under the boxes for the code there is link for  new users to use

    It's not a problem signing in to Gateway. The problem is with the validation code to activate self assessment. They have not sent it and although I should be able to request it again I cannot see how to do that.
