Template to request default removal

Hello,
I have spoken to a couple of people who have said that I should be able to get some defaults removed from my credit file. The defaults are from credit cards where the creditors agreed to write off my balance on the grounds of my mental health. I would like to see if they would also remove the defaults or if not back date them - does anyone have a template of what I need to say? I’m sure I saw some previous advice on here about areas of the DPA I can quote but I can’t seem to find the advice.

No such template exists, as a general rule, defaults cannot be removed if they were correctly applied.
There are certain very limited exceptions however, mainly when a complaint against a payday lender has been upheld, and default removal was included as part of the redress.
In your situation it would be appropriate to ask for the defaults to be back dated to when you first started to struggle with your repayments, but there is nothing stopping you from asking for removal, just don`t expect to be successful.
Your letter doesn't need to quote legislation, personal letters tend to work better, it would say something along the lines of -
Dear Creditor,
Thank you for agreeing to write off my outstanding balance due to my mental health issues.
Would you also please consider removal of the defaults on my credit report that are associated with those debts ?
(state your reasons for this).
If removal is not possible, instead would you at least look into backdating them to when I first got into hardship ?
(insert date) would be more agreeable to me, as this is when my mental health problems first started.
Yours sincerely
