Tesco HP printer (miss) selling - Not what it says on the box - What should I do

Tesco are (miss)selling the photosmart C4205 printer at half price. The box says it contains printer disc instructions cable and colour and black cartridges. 350XL and 351XL (350XL will print 1000 pages) when you open the box it contains 350 and 351 (350 will print 200 pages).

I feel misled as this was the deciding factor. 4 more HP ink cartridges black and 4 more colour are a lot of money. How would you proceed ?

Comments

  • When you say it is printed 'on the box' do you mean printed by HP Photosmart, or is it a label stuck to the box by Tesco? If it was printed already by HP, I would take it back and explain and get a refund, as HP have the wrong wording on the box.

The description looks like the smaller carts. If it's on the Box though, and you bought it retail, thats what should be inside. Go see customer services for a refund I think.

You would get a refund, not a set of new ink cartridges, that's for certain!

Is it printed on the box or is it stated on a Tesco sign?

HP normally only supply 'starter' cartridges, just as most other manufacturers do. That's why they market printers at or below manufacturing cost.

PS Why is this on the Grabbit board??

The HP Box has a description of what's contained and shows the extra capacity cartridges (and gives the comparison numbers with the standard cartridges). I live about 15 miles from Tesco so I telephoned a friend and asked them to check the store. Some of the other boxes in the pile have a sticky label covering the XL status of the cartridges.

I am sorry if this is the wrong place I should have posted - I just thought that it was being promoted as the half price "bargain" when I now think the full price with the advertised cartridges might have been more of a bargain!

Not the case with Brother, they give full size cartridges.

    Hi

I was almost going to buy this as it is currently £30 in Tesco. However, this is I think too cheap. And I read a review stating that the paper jammed after just a bit of usage!

    Cheers
