I love my credit union. I have a small sum taken from my wages each month. When I wanted a small loan they paid me that day!!
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)

I love our friendly credit union only save a small amount each month at the moment but know that when the washing maching dies getting a new one wont be a problem, ours has a main centre and also certain days in local neighbourhoods and at our local LET's group so I get to combine saving cash and LET's trading very money saving:T
  • I joined a credit union 2 years ago and it has been really great for me, especially when an unexpected expense comes up. I save £10 a month. The loans are easy to get and the interest rates are low. It's nice to know that it's there when you can't get credit elsewhere.
  • just phoned them and they are going to be sending out the forms for me to fill in and take to the CU when they are open again after Christmas. They are only open an 1 1/2 hours one day a week but I am told after the initial visit I can set up a SO :T . Sounds like it will be perfect for us.

Huxley forgive me but whats LETS?

Hi, LETS are local exchange trading schemes, ours is a good one we pay a small amount of sterling £5 or £10 a year depending on if your waged or low income then most everthing is done in what ever your groups currency is ours is hemps once a month we have a talk & trade where people trade things they no longer want for hemps (normally no cash;) )we have a monthly newsletter that shows services eg babysitting or items for sale or wanted. I think they are great ;)www.letslinkuk.net should let you know if theres one in your area.

Thank you for that Huxley. Have found one in our area so will give them a ring later to sort something out. Hopefully we will all remember to add CU's, LETS as well as Freecycle when we are giving advice.
