My ASDA does not stock it, nor the co-op, I need it for the "best mince pie recipe ever".
Anyone know where I can get some
. Also, red currant jelly and stem ginger in syrup. Thanks.

Not quite the same, Trex is a vegetable fat whilst lard is rendered pork fat.

White Flora is similar if you're stuck, but Trex is normally in the 'fats' bit of the fridges, near to the butter/marg.
You *should* be able to find redcurrant jelly at any supermarket, it's usually in the aisle with the pickled stuff, and savoury sauces (mint sauce etc). I had to buy some not long ago and I remember that I did have to hunt for it a bit, so ask an assistant if you're stuck.
Stem ginger in syrup is another one of those things you have to hunt for - try the baking aisle, or the jam aisle. At this time of the year, it's often one of those 'end of aisle' things, along with the mincemeat etc. You should be also to get it fairly easily from an ordinary supermarket though0 -
You can get Trex in Tesco's cos I got some for my Nan to make her yummy mince pies.
I also bought some redcurrant jelly in morrisons last month.;)0 -
trex is a veg fat version of lard - most of the big supermarkets do it, it is usually between the cooking marge and lard, as someone said flora white is the same and as far i as i remember some supermarkets do their own brand block veg fat. its used as a shortener in pastry like lard would traditionaly would be. i am not that au fait with veg lard substitues as i realised many years ago that i am too heavy handed for pastry - and while it may be more expensive to my home made pastry is ineadible!!!Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0

For the mince pie recipe, just type into the forum in "the best mince pie pastry ever" and the post will come up. Sorry I just haven't got it to hand right now and I am on my way out to the shops.
MERRY CHRISTMAS0
