Ex-bankrupt and job in financial services

Hey, I’m sorry if this has been answered before. I can’t find a relevant thread.
I was declared bankrupt in 2012, discharged a year after. Worked up towards a good credit file. I’ve had credit cards to build up my score and they’ve always been paid off on time.
I’m looking for new jobs just now and some have caught my eye in the finance sector. Not giving financial advice, but working in financial organisations in technology and delivery teams.
I expect I’ll need a credit check to work in these sorts of jobs. My question is will my past stop me from progressing? I intend to be honest in any questions asked. It’s more anxiety and am i
wasting my time?
wasting my time?
Thanks 🙏

If they check your CRAs then there will be no bankruptcy mentioned as it comes off six years after you are made bankrupt. If they check the London Gazette then obviously it will be in there. If you are asked on any form or personally have you EVER been bankrupt/insolvent then you have to say yes.If you are asked on any form or personally are you currently bankrupt/insolvent or have been bankrupt/insolvent in the last six years then you can answer no.0

When I was a newbie here, loads of folk, including those in finances, were in dire straits. Some in finance really needed to go BR and owed a lot to their employers.
Those who contacted their HR, often via unions, were frequently supported in going BR by their employer and kept their jobs. The only one I recall losing their job was the one who allowed his employer to learn from the Insolvency Practitioner rather than contacting HR.
Be honest if you are asked, but no need for a hair shirt. Also, just accept that even if they don't ask they might just check the Gazette. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing2 -
Thank you.So I’m applying. Nothing to lose right?I am being told that pre-employment fraud checks will take place. Anything to worry about there for the BR?
Credit checks will be done. Internal criteria used to determine. So doesn’t specifically say if I’ve ever or if I am BR.0 -
As a layman, why would you need a credit check to work in the financial industry if you're not interfacing with customers?
Criminal checks sure, but not a credit check surely?0 -

It makes no difference if you interface with customers. You have access to information.
Daughter does not interface with customers. But had to go through exactly the same as someone who does. As part of the role, she has access to customer details.
Good Luck to the OP 👍Life in the slow lane0 -
Thank you. Will let you know the outcome of the checks 😬0
