Are there other providers for internet where you live as VM looks extremely expensive?  Our internet is provided by EE and we get a far better speed than we ever did with BT, Plusnet or Talk Talk and for just over £20 a month.  VM isn't available where we live but wouldn't be using them if the going rate is £75 anyway!!!!

I would just let the loan plod on until CC1 is paid up as that is more expensive than the loan so it's where the extra money needs to go.

CC2 isn't going to be paid off by the time the 0% ends, do you know what the rate will go up to?  If it is higher than CC2 what is where any extra should be going.

Any chance you could get a good balance transfer for both cards to a 0% card?  Use the soft search on the main website to see.  That could be better than plodding along with the interest bearing cards.

    Notes:

The new interest payment has just hit my mortgage account.  So payment went up by £120 and interest being charged is over £200 more than my previous rate.  You don't realise how much more it is going to be until you see it in print.  So first alterations of 2024

    1. A subscription cancelled (£24 p/m)
    2. Boiler monthly plan cancelled (£20 p/m)
    3. Netflix plan downgraded (£4 p/m)
    4. Bought some bus tickets before they put the price up.  Annoyingly, I have to buy these via CC1, but until activated I have a year to use them.  Hoping for plenty of decent weather so I can walk to work as much as possible.
    5. Major wardrobe sort out.  Purchase a few necessary items over the weekend, then no unnecessary clothing purchases.
    6. Freezer full of bulk cooked food. Decided not to label containers so can have surprises.

    1. Entered a Christmas quiz and won a voucher for local travel.  Will help towards winter travel.
    2. Due to the current cold snap (not forgetting the price increase) my gas bill doubled so have had to recalculate spends for the next few months.
    3. BB and mobile will both go up with the upcoming RPI increases.
    4. Have found a renewed love for beans 'n' toast   :D

    Notes:

Am shocked by how much I managed to spend on my CC in 2 weeks.  Have now frozen the card (though I think I should also freeze it literally!).

Have set Netflix to 'cancelled', and will try and go as long as possible into the 10 months before restarting.

As it was only payday 6 days ago and I only have £30 left for the rest of month,  it will be a non-food shop month and eat whatever is in the cupboard.

    Diary note for March:

When things do not go to plan.  New 5 year plan - start saving to move, but that won't be possible with the above debt figures.

I have frozen one card (online, but wondering if this should be literally! mm, should have taken my own advice from previous comment) and cut the other.

When the broadband contract comes up for renewal, I will be cancelling completely. Will do this for a year - there is more internet on my phone that I ever get around to using, so will hotspot for necessary internet usage.

Life insurance will go, as I thought this was needed for mortgage purposes.  No dependents, so not necessary.

Cannot cancel the 'other insurance' due to medical needs.

My little furbaby has finished with the vets, though he still won't let me downgrade his food

Back to cash only now (transport fees excluded), and redo the SOA in June.
