Travel Agent's Commission - too good to be true?

I am looking for some advice regarding a TA position.
I have had two interviews so far with this company, first with the HR, second with the hiring manager. I think they went well. The hiring manager told me at the end of my 2nd interview that the commission for bookings is 5%. Is this too good to be true? Basic is good, there is also a yearly bonus.
The reason I ask is because I have not worked for a TMC before, just as an in-house corp TA (no commission, just basic pay). I can't find anthing online about this. Just the 5% seems a little high. This could potentially double my basic or add thousands to it. Is there a catch or am I being too humble?

5% in principle sounds high but inevitably you need to clarify its 5% of what? The total price the customer pays? That would seem exceptionally high... 5% of the agency's commission seems a more reasonable proportion1

They should be able to give you an 'average' of what consultants in the office you are working, are getting.
What is the 5% commission on bookings based on? A total holiday, so say 5% of 3k (£150). Or 5% of the company's commission, say on £150 (£7.50).
If you haven't worked with commission before, other questions to ask after what the 5% is of and what the 'average' commission is, are -
* Is the commission written into the contract, or can it be taken away / changed at any time.
* Who gets the commission, is it the person with first contact who does the work, or the person who takes the booking deposit.
* When is the commission paid, on full payment of the holiday, or after the holiday has been taken.
* Is the commission capped.
* How is commission submitted, can it be withheld
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....2 -

Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!1
