When will the economy / jobs market likely improve?

I'm quite unhappy at my current job, and if I were to choose to leave, I'd have to give 3 months notice. Which makes me think I'd probably have to quit and then start looking for jobs, as I cant see anyone in my industry waiting around for 3 months for me to start.
I like the idea of quitting in around 6 months, but I worry that I might really struggle finding a new job.
Is there any sort of estimate of when the economy will improve and there are more job vacancies out there?

A lot of industries are still struggling to recruit people now, we have been short 3 engineers since Christmas where I work0

What sort of role do you currently have and what would you be looking to move into?0

If 3 months is quite usual in your industry, then surely they'll be quite used to waiting around.
Plus you MIGHT be able to negotiate a more rapid exit - will your employer want you hanging around, ready to leave?Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I don't think there's a better time for looking for work either if you're reliable, have transferrable skills and are willing to learn.
We're having huge struggles recruiting at the moment for a few roles (we've had 2 UK-based open vacancies since December) and are finding huge issues with employee reliability in another of the markets we are heavily integrated to, We aren't the only ones and this isn't industry-specific.💙💛 💔1 -
If you look at what the Office for National Statistics says, that will give you accurate figures, although sadly they've yet to master the art of accurate prediction!user19860331 said:I'm quite unhappy at my current job, and if I were to choose to leave, I'd have to give 3 months notice. Three months is pretty standard these day for most non-entry level jobs and companies accept that.user19860331 said:I'm quite unhappy at my current job, and if I were to choose to leave, I'd have to give 3 months notice. Do not quit, start looking for jobs now, find one, then hand in your notice, the new employer will understand the notice period. Do not make yourself unemployed by quitting without a job.user19860331 said:I like the idea of quitting in around 6 months, but I worry that I might really struggle finding a new job.
The economy might be flat, but there do not seem to be any issues with the jobs market. Lots of jobs are being advertised, recruitment agents I know say that they cannot fill roles quick enough, almost all sectors I deal with are struggling to get enough staff, the jobs market is relatively buoyant and it seems to be a workers market.user19860331 said:Is there any sort of estimate of when the economy will improve and there are more job vacancies out there?0 -
What kind of roles are you struggling to fill?CKhalvashi said:I don't think there's a better time for looking for work either if you're reliable, have transferrable skills and are willing to learn.

One is quite a specialist project management role, these have always been difficult to fill from within the UK.El_Rey said:

The other is customer support, advertised as either London or flexible, 35 hour contract, advertised at £14.50/hour with paid breaks and 6 weeks leave (normally plus a week between Christmas and New Year where I decide to close the office completely save for emergencies).💙💛 💔0
