Pet Health Care plans - are they worth it?

Hi. Grateful for any help/advice. We are just about to add a puppy to the family and I've seen that many vets, and places like Pet at Home, offer annual Health Plans that cover things like vaccinations, boosters, annual health checks, flea, worm and tick treatment etc. for a set monthly fee (often with a one off sign-up fee). I was just wondering if these are good value and do genuinely save you money on the cost of paying for these things independently. For example, Pets at Home are offering a plan at £15 a month for 13 months (with a £30 sign-up which I can get discounted). So it would cost £195 for the year. I would have to pay for our puppy to have its second vaccination, its annual booster and the flea/worm/tick treatments and an annual health check. Advice greatly appreciated from your own experience. Thanks

I have a lab pup, I am also on a plan at £13. I worked it out to be a saving. We also get 2 nurse visits for things like nail clipping. The trio tablets alone for flea, worm and tick work out at £12.80 if I was to buy them.1

Thanks jefaz07. Yes, I called up my local vets and as you say the flea/worm monthly cost was £14 so the plan does seem reasonable value and saves on paying for everything separately.0

I have it for our lab as it includes a 6 monthly health check & includes vaccinations etc all in the price.
You also get discount on treatments & procedures.1 -
Thanks Penguin. the six month check up sounds great. I'll check with my local vets.0
