Morning folks.
What a weekend that was. Pomp, circumstance and pork pies on Saturday with bright sunshine and Lionel Richie yesterday. It was a beautifully hot Sunday, we went to Bowes Museum and the Winston Spitfire bridge before settling down to play 'around the world' board game which we then abandoned to watch the concert.
Today I'm driving back up to Glasgow. I'm going via a shop called Cranston's at Penrith, I need more of their brilliant coronation sausages, the best I have ever tasted, which I'll stick in Alan's freezer for when I return from my travels. Yes, I'm now getting excited!
DP1 - have a wonderful time with your little one at Butlin's, she'll love it.
I hope that everyone is doing well. Happy Bank Holiday Monday.

Morning everyone Gers pleased you enjoyed your trip to Bowes Museum I like a look to Barnard castle the first Saturday of the month is the farmers market and they have got some good charity shops and the Witham is a great little place for shows it’s only small but they get a lot of good things on the top comedians usually do a show there before they go on there tours and of course that comedian Dominic Cummings went there to test his eyesight. We have a parade through the street today for the coronation and a bouncy castle and lots,of things going on but of course it’s pouring down and set in for the day so many people are looking forward to it especially the kids they will just have to get wet I’m sure some of them will enjoy it we were going to listen to the bands but there will be no picnics. So I’m going to go right through the house keep me busy all day . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing12

Morning folks and thanks GERS for your early start. Have a safe drive up to Glasgow. After some lovely weather over the weekend we are back to rain this morning! Bah!
Yesterday I pottered doing this and that, both inside and out. It felt lovely in the sunshine. I was even spurred on to prune the wardrobes! I have already filled 2 charity bags and more to follow. Maybe today as I won't be tempted outside in the rain. It's supposed to stop late morning if the forecast is right.
Lunch is a rinse and repeat of yesterday's chicken dinner as I made sure I did enough veg to warm up today. When I have decided which soup to make I want to make my usual tubful to accompany my lunchtime sandwiches for the coming few days. There won't be as many lunches out this week unfortunately!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, getting better or MIA. Dp1 will probably be on the road to Butlins already so I hope they have a fun filled time. Take care all and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Happy BH Monday all, it's a wet one here after a lovely warm day yesterday. We picked up some plants and I spent the afternoon getting rid of the dead stuff and then replanting the tubs. DH was going to power wash the back until he realised it was missing- a quick call to DS2 solved the mystery
We had an easy tea with bits & pieces, watched the news and then spent the evening reading, DH was keen to finish his book, he's not enjoying it that much but won't give up on it
It will be something from the freezer tonight as all the fresh main course stuff is more or less gone.Have a good day all - safe trips and enjoy the travelling Dp1 and Gers x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)11 -
Morning All
Typical Public holiday weather here - pouring down! Yesterday was lovely and could say it was quite warm at times. Lots of washing dried outside including the bath mats and dressing gowns along with the back door curtain - that can go away now until the winter.
Grass strimmed and cut and new plants put in place, it was quite a busy day until DD and the little one arrived then it was all play, I think I enjoyed the bubbles more than she did!
Safe travels Gers, you must be very excited now.
Sounds like you were busy Rosy.
What a shame about the weather for today Izzy.
Must go for some more compost today and deliver a birthday card, apart from that there may be a nanna nap as I didn't sleep very well last night.
Hope everyone is well and has a good day. Take care. XX11 -
Morning all, another one who didn't sleep very well last night, we were both too hot and had the windows open from midnight. Yesterday I dried and put away the washing and sorted out some paperwork for Dad. He went home happy with a bag of goodies.
I enjoyed the coronation show but was disappointed at the abrupt ending of it last night, apparently there was an encore 🤷♀️
Today I have some cleaning to do, starting with the kitchen floor, that needs steam cleaning. Then some sorting and packing needs to be done, I've done most of mine but Mr Fix It needs to shift himself and sort his stuff out, seems he'd rather get the cameras etc together than his clothes !
Hope everyone can have a good day.
dp1 enjoy Butlins with the family.
Gers safe travels today.
Take care all, hugs to anyone in need. Thinking of the poorly ones especially Poppy.

Morning chums Smart nurse due today to change dressing so I sellotaped a big piece of plastic over the drain and dressing and managed to have a shower and wash my hair .Looked a bit like a sandwich but I feel fresher now I can only shower on the days my dressings get changed as they are usually damp even with a plastic bag sellotaped to my tummy
But hey ho I won't let this defeat me .
Enjoyed the concert on tv even though I didn't know half the singers the light show was spectacular.
Typical BH Monday weather, dry at the moment, but rain due after lunch so I shall be sitting watching a bit of catch up tv I have started to knit the second unicorn blanket this will be for Ida my three year old Great granddaughter they take around two months to make as its 67K stitches and 342 rows of 175 stitches per row
Each row is different so I really have to concentrate on it I made a nice pink one for the new great granddaughter due in New York on 4th July and my eldest daughter will take it out with her when she goes in August. this one Ive started is a very pretty blue as its what Ida asked for
Once finished I have to knit another one for her 5 year old sister Erin, but she wants pink.
Good job I bought a stash of pink and blue wool from the manufacturers before Christmas when they had a sale on so more than enough to do them all.
They will go into their Christmas present parcels I think along with some other bits
Right time for a cuppa I thinking perhaps a couple of ginger nuts
Hope everyone has a good day what ever you are doing enjoy the extra day off
Just had a text from DGS Ben in north London He's really caught the gardening bug and because he is getting the children in year five he teaches interested ,he has just gone and bought 60 pots and some seeds to take into school tomorrow so they can all have a go at growing something .
I'm so proud of him and he is such a nice young man and loves his job, and the children think 'Sir' is almost godlike.
He teaches in an inner London primary school where the children often have difficult backgrounds and home lives.
He was saying, to him if he can get the kids interest they will learn more.So after telling them about digging up a patch in his Gran's garden to plant spuds and onions they suddenly start thinking Oh it doesn't just arrive in the shops somehow you can grow them yourselves.
I scrounge any books I can for the kids library shelves in school, as the local council say they can't afford to stock them for the children
He goes to charity shops and any boot fairs he can find and buys the kids books .He says its no good if a child can't read as how can you expect them to read text books when they get to senior school
Its his aim to get every child reading even if its just the last 10 minutes in the afternoon before the bell goes his kids all sit and read for those ten minutes
Often he finds ,even boys who are not keen readers suddenly start to enjoy things more and he is determined none of the children will go into their last year at primary school not being able to read.
He really is an asset to the school and a born teacher I think.
When he was doing his teaching cert he went on placement there ,and once he got his certificate he was head hunted from his previous school as they wanted him there, its further away but he says he doesn't mind as he enjoys it so much.
An all round good egg, the eldest of his three brothers so coming from a family of five siblings he knows that sometime kids have problems and he is so patient with them

Nurse has been this morning to help me shower and redress the cancerous ulcer. I went back to bed and have only just woken up. Two more radiotherapy treatments this week. Think things are slightly improved already but the treatment is incredibly exhausting Nice overnight visit from my eldest son at the weekend so enjoyed watching the Coronation with him
bon voyage GERS. Keep knitting Jackie!11 -
Take care poppy sleep as much as you want big hugs9

I second that Poppy, sleep as much as possible as it aids healing. When I was going through chemo and r/therapy I slept more than Ive ever done in my life ,or since as I'm not a very good sleeper at all ,even at night I can only go around two-three hours at a stretch .
My eldest DD got me a recliner chair, which I still have and I would put the tv on and recline it and within half an hour I was out for the count Sleep is natures way of saying come on you must rest to help heal.
I decided I shall do a minimum of 5 rows a day, as if I do too much my lymphodema arm start aching, so a little bit every day and I have plenty of time to get both the blankets done before Christmas.Looking very overcast at the moment so I don't think it will be long before we get some more blooming rain
This has got to be the longest winter spring ever. There are still daffodils appearing locally.
An awful lot of greenfly around already , but opposite my house the council who are usually quick to trim the grass seem to be not bothering as much at the moment and even the grass verges are getting quite overgrown.I don't know if its cutback or their idea of 're-wilding' .
Onwards and upward Poppy
