My wife's 66th is 25th August 2026 however her pension start date is 27th January 2027.
Why is her pension around 5 months after her birthday?

Because she is in the transition to 67 which starts with those born from 6 April 1960.

The reason was to prevent an unfair cliff edge where one person born the day after the line in the sand would have to wait an extra year. So, it was phased on a monthly basis.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
