As your appliances age and are replaced with more efficient ones, you will continue to reduce overall consumption over the decades ahead. This should offset the savings you've made via consumption frugality etc.

And the occasional pigeon will make your panels their new home, making it an issue, so worth getting black bird netting around those new panels.

There's a lot more change happening in peoples lives that effect consumption than just appliances aging.  In the 9 years since my panels were installed, my small children have turned into teenagers and unsurprisingly our home consumption has risen considerably, replacing ALL my appliances for the most efficient possible wouldn't have made a dent.

Completely agree with the pigeon proofing, we had just a single pair move in last year and they were hell.  I just fitted bird proofing myself (bungalow so easily accessible) and thankfully they've now gone and peace has returned.

Remember, there are two types of pigeons.

The larger type, wood pigeons (fat, waddling creatures with a white collar) are too big and daft to get under your panels. The smaller rock doves (town or feral pigeons) are the ones that find panels a warm, cosy spot to hang out.

It was a pair of wood pigeons under ours..  they had to duck considerably but could easily get under there.  Beautiful pair really, but noisy as hell.  Sadly their nest was barely more than a couple of twigs and the two eggs they laid just rolled off our roof and smashed on the driveway. I hope they've built a better nest somewhere else, I like to think I did them a favour.

We regularly have Sparrowhawks and numerous kites and buzzards around so it's easy to see why they chose my panels to hide under.

The system I had installed early this year is the same size as in your quote so a decent comparison. My usage is a smidge lower at 3100.

I did not go for a batteries - @Screwdriva has explained it very well including the quote he attached. It doesn't work out viable for me no matter how hard I try to make it so.

My system cost £8500 which included solaredge inverter (no idea how it ranks compared to the one in your quote), a split array (half on an outbuilding and half on the house) and also included bird netting and an immersion controller (I heat with oil, I will probably turn it off as oil reduces in price).
