For most of the uk, if you have the perfect angle you get just under the installed KWH Peak, play with the tool.

thanks that's useful- does it vary depending on how far south you are? Or do the longer days in summer further north offset the shorter winter days?

I know there is a basic rule to maximise the panels on your house, but I think this should be taken with as a general rule, rather than fact for everyone.

I in fact reduced the number of panels on my roof, and decided instead to get more battery instead. The cost of reducing the number of panels and optimisers by 5 (2kw) and instead gaining an additional 5.6kw of battery, was about the same cost wise (save maybe £150)

As high users of electricity, mostly during the evening peak, and overnight (Have an electric car, and do 20,000 miles per year) actually scaling the panels for our house usage worked out for us.

I'm on Octopus Intelligent to get the 7.5p per kwh overnight, and as we have scaled to panels to our house usage, with the additional battery, we are currently using 85% of the solar generated by our 4kw system. If I had paid extra to have a 6kw system, we would be exporting more, but this would be at a rate of 4.1pence, as we can't go on the higher export tarrif due to being on Intelligent. As I put in at least 30kw a night into the car, being on any other tarriff does not make sense for us.
