Tax Code

Hi all. I’m seeking some advice to ensure I am on the correct tax code as I’ve recently changed my primary employment

For seven years I have been a self employed sole trader on a full time basis, filing my self assessment tax returns.

I’ve just recently taken up employment within a company, however I am still carrying out my self employed work on the side on a very part time basis

Am I right in saying this self employed work won’t affect my tax payments or tax code in my new role as I am still filing my self assessment returns?

Many thanks for your help,

Paul.

It can be taken into account if you wish i.e. pay more as go along and have less to pay under Self Assessment.

But for most people they would just pay all the extra tax due via Self Assessment.

You would normally be on the emergency tax code (1257L) unless there were any mandatory changes needed such as deduction for State Pension.
