Anniversary ideas

I'm really struggling to plan something for my 20th Wedding anniversary this July. Every idea I've liked just isn't working out.
I had thought we could go to Amsterdam but OH has poor health at times and I don't think he'd cope with flying.
Closer to home I thought Oxford Malmaison but its over £1k a night for the right weekend and I refuse to pay that.
Last year we had a fancy weekend in London so prefer something not London based.
We like music, we like the theatre and arts. I'd like something not revolving around drinking alcohol. We can get away for 1 maybe 2 nights, we like the the thought of something active but again health issues may prevent that, same health issues require healthy eating options.
OH does like photography too, I'd like somewhere within SW England simply as I don't want to travel too far.
Other hotels I like and ruled out on distance is the Pellirocco? Brighton and impossible motel York.
We also pretty much live on the doorstop of the cotswolds so they are a familiar sight.
How on earth do I, one of the least romantic people plan something nice and meaningful?

Variety of accomodation and activities in and around the New Forest1

This came up on my SM feed by chance last night. I've already sent it to my DH in anticipation of our silver wedding anniversary next year.
Experiences - The East Lancashire Railway (eastlancsrailway.org.uk)
They cater for different dietary requirements. Combine it with a couple of nights break and also take in a nearby theatre/concert.
Look for a similar idea closer to home if this is too far to travel to.1 -
Thanks both, both great ideas, New Forest isn't somewhere I'd thought of but I do like the bits of Hampshire I've seen.East Lancashire railway is a great find, my Dad grew up on those railways, and possibly even worked there, he's moved away now but still loves steam trains. Even if it's not for us this year it's a brilliant idea for a gift for my parents.Make £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023

Stratford upon Avon? Or is that too far? Shakespeare country if you like the arts etc
or Bath?working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?1 -
Wonder if one of those upmarket glamping pods would fit the bill- the ones with hot tub or fire pit for example. Surely can't be as expensive as a hotel?
or a shepherd's hut?
if you google pods & huts in the area in which you are interested you'll find things.
Seems there are a few in New Forest areaBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I'm not a great lover of pearls, so Mr S knew that a pearl necklace for our recent 30th was a non-starter.
Instead, I got a Rhino greenhouse.
Does it have to be a holiday - or is there something more permanent that he would love?0 -
What does your OH want to do?
Why is it your responsibility to decide what to do?
It's not just your anniversary.0 -
We just both thought that a night or two away would be nice, we don't really do gifts outside of Christmas and birthdays, we find experiences to be more memorable, but I suppose it doesn't have to include a night away @Silvertabby@Pollycat my OH pulled out the stops last year for my 40th and anniversary, I said last year I'd have to step up for our 20th and it just kind of stuck. I'm definitely the least romantic of the two of us, so I'd like to be able to make him feel as special as I did last year. We have had a general discussion on it, and if I need/want more input from him then he'd have a whole raft of ideas. He is very easily pleased, and the type if I'm happy he's happy. Maybe I'm just putting too much pressure on myself to try and make it perfectMake £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023

I understand now why you want to plan it but if he's got lots of idea, let him have input.0
