Mortgage and mortgage non-advisor

So we're looking to get a new mortgage as ours is expiring. We wanted to move before it expired but unfortunately haven't made it. So the original "mortgage advisor" has been in contact who was recommended to us originally and she seemed fine. She's given us suggestions, but that's it. She doesn't ever bother to seem to actually give any advise. She does a search and that's it. We're unsure if we should go with a tracker or a fixed. We're currently with a fixed and all she does is just do another search and give us the result. No advice on the current market and what would be the best option. Reading the money saving expert mortgage page I'm still unsure but at least its more advise than she gives.
We both have full time jobs and def want to move in a year or 2. So not sure if should go for a tracker or fixed.

I don't think you can expect an advisor to give you speculation advice on the market, that's really not allowed as she's doesn't have a crystal ball.
You tell her what you are thinking about and why and she looks at your attitude to risk and may recommend and tracker over a fixed or vis versa. She should be able to advise on if a product is portable if you are looking to move.
If you are not happy then don't use her. Go into a compare site, find the rate and apply yourself or find a different advisor.0 -
When she has given you options, have you asked to discuss them?
Some people just want the figures and are comfortable making their choice, some want the extra discussions to help. Typically we spend more time discussing with FTBers than people remortgaging, but thats not always the case.
