Hi everyone,
I've been awake since 4 with a streaming cold and cough, it's come on so suddenly I hope it's over with before we go away on Wednesday. I'm just hoping it's not covid, more likely it's the cold Esben came home from nursery with this week.
It's been a busy week with our northern lights adventure and various hospital, dentist and optician appointments for Steve, not to mention taking the camper van for its annual service. We asked the place if they would buy it and for how much. It is in like new condition and the value has held up pretty well so we think we might sell it. We used it quite a bit when we first got it but after Steve got his cancer diagnosis and then covid hit we have hardly used it. It has become a bit of a symbol to me of the problems we have had over the last few years and I would quite like to draw a line under it if I am honest.
If we enjoy this rail holiday in Spain I can see us maybe having a few more on the continent, we have decided to take backpacks, Steve with the big one (my clothes and all the medical paraphernalia etc) and I've got a slightly smaller one with his clothes. Most of the hotels we've booked are within walking distance of the stations with only one a taxi ride away, hopefully there will be a taxi service there. Looking at the temperatures it will be around the mid twenties so I think I will go through my clothes and jettison some of them.
Chris starts his 3 month sabbatical today, he's really looking forward to having some quality time with Nate and Crystal before they both have to go back to work.
I have read the threads this week but I'm afraid I can't remember a lot. I hope your SiL gets decent treatment Coxy. Hopefully you are home sans drain Jackie. Thoughts with the poorlies and also with Nelski's family, I'm finding it hard to stop thinking of her.
Have a good day.

Morning All
Thanks for the start snoozer, hope your cold clears quickly. I'm sure your motor home will be snapped up quickly. Your holiday sounds well organised, hope you enjoy yourselves, you deserve a rest.
Very dark and overcast this morning, I'll keep the washing until tomorrow when it may be brighter, although it's not looking too good.
I was so glad to reach 3pm yesterday, it was such a busy week at work. My colleague will now be off for at least two weeks with a sore leg, I could have cried when I heard! Never mind, things will either get done or they won't, at least we have a couple of bank holidays in the next two weeks.
Went to the optician yesterday, I have had something called posterior vitreous detachment that has caused the floaters and flashing lights. So relieved it's nothing serious - one of the joys of getting older!
Off to do a bit of shopping with my friend this morning, mostly to stock up on toiletries at HB but will have a wander around some other shops too.
Hope you all have a good weekend, take care. XX

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off Snoozer. It's good that you've made a decision about the campervan. Your rail holiday sounds exciting and adventurous. My hair appointment was successful. I decided to not have it cut as short as I normally do. The three month growth was nearly two inches so I asked for only one inch to be removed. I also had my colour redone. Whilst the foils were cooking the hairdressers husband gave me a shortened version of an Indian head, neck and shoulder massage and used sound / vibration tongs on my especially sore and tight knots. He couldn't do the head part but I didn't need it. The work on my lower neck and shoulders was fantastic. Think I'll have that done next time. I must also seek out a massage therapist near here.Today is when I really must crack on with some serious packing, I've only been doing some frivolous faffing around the edges of it so far. 😀
Nelski popped into my mind twice yesterday morning as I made breakfast. She had offered to find a particular range of coffee cups I wanted from Marks (all sold out) which I unusually used yesterday. And then she reappeared when I spread butter on my toast, it was the easy spread stuff, again from Marks, which was recommended to her after her first stroke. Funny how these small things suddenly jump out to smack you. I hope that all has gone well with the funeral arrangements.Right, my coffee is finished so I have to move myself. Take care everyone. Happy Saturday to all.13 -
Morning everyone Snoozer we were very lucky as children but probably didn’t realise it then my dad worked on the railway and we got free travel on the trains we went all over the country I remember every year we went to Cornwall and sleeping on the train although now we would love a camper van but I understand you selling it will be snapped up. Gers that massage sounds fab how relaxing I think I would of been snoring another glamorous day in store for me we have found a sawmill ne’er us that the logs are a lot cheaper if you pick them up yourself so I am now going to pick up a ton of logs load and unload them then go again we will do the same next week and hopefully that will be us stocked up for next winter for a while anyway. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing13

Morning folks and thanks SNOOZER. I hope you soon recover from your cough and cold. It's not much fun going on holiday feeling poorly. It's quite a pleasant start for the day here, no rain, no wind and feeling milder. I was going to get the bus into town but decided I couldn't be bothered. It was mainly to get my new specs adjusted but I will leave it until Tuesday when I am down town anyway.
True to my word I had an onslaught on the freezers yesterday and they are now more organised. One or two things I was tempted by when they were heavily ys have hit the bin. I have decided I am never going to eat them and only succumbed to them 'cos they were cheap!
I managed another small sort out of the pots at the back. Baby steps and I may eventually get there! I have my eye on a few that have so signs of life in them but will give them a bit longer before they hit the garden waste bin.
Have a nice day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, getting better and MIA. I'm another who is still missing NELS. When I needed a bit of inspiration on what to cook there was NELS to the rescue with a new recipe she had found. Take care one and all and be safe xx

Morning all
Bright and sunny here and set in for the day which is nice, dd is taking big pup to the vets this morning for her ear she seems to have another infection in it bless her.
We are hoping to bbq tonight if it’s warm enough, I often think of our dear Nels too, she loved it when we had a bbq and I would send her photos of what we were eating, she was a good friend and is very missed.
We are hoping to put up some new light fittings in the hallway today and if we get chance another coat of plaster on one section of wall we will then be ready for the decorators to come in at the end of may, I still need to find a wallpaper/ mural for the wall but can’t seem to find one I like.
Burgers and pork belly for bbq tonight unless it’s too cold then we will eat indoors.
Have good days all and take care xx12 -
Morning all, milder today. We have an unusually leisurely start to the day as DGS's footie doesn't kick off for a couple of hours, then it'll be a mad rush to get to the town football stadium. It'll be busy up there as it's the last game of the season at home. The DGC want to stay back and try and get some autographs after the match, they both got books at Cmas and haven't got any in them
We may have a meal after at their fave place as it's changing hands soon after 30 odd years
. We used to take DSons when they were young too. Then again DS2 did mention the cinema for them, we'll see later.
Camelot glad your eyes are ok.Snoozer, hope the cold goes away quickly, your trip sounds good.Gers I'm thinking of going to a hairdresser to get a colour done, I do it myself but the condition isn't good, and my hair is thinning anyway. My own hairdresser doesn't do colour, just cuts, I suppose he can fit more people in that way. I must ring him next week, not been cut for ages.Izzy mind your back with the logs!TA well done with the freezers.RR enjoy your bbq & raise a glass in honour of NelsHave a good day all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning lovely people, take 2 on my post, I lost the last one as I pressed the wrong button.
I'm sorry to have been away for so long but I have been really poorly. I'm not out of the woods yet but today is a goodish day. My meds are messing with my head and my energy is at rock bottom.
This week I have been to the dentist and also had the hairdresser restyle my Worzel Gummidge hair into something that partially resembles a human, but she cut it far too short for my liking. We also went to the van yesterday to try to get it ready for a holiday on 11th May. Mr Fix It thought it would be good to get away but didn't think of the work we would have to do to get it ready. I didn't want to do any of it and had to make myself, it's hard just to get out of bed some days.
Today I was waiting for a small sm delivery (which has now arrived) and I have done a load in the wm, it should dry outside as the sun is shining. I'm also in charge of the hamsters this weekend as DD and family have gone to Devon as guests of a local football team ( DGS plays for a different team now but they are all still friends )
Having read this mornings posts I had to read back about my BFF Nels. I am shocked and can't really believe it. I am so sad and I have no words to express how I feel, devastated might be the closest. I shall miss her dearly 😥
taff thank you for your message which I only read this morning.
I would also like to thank you lovely lot for thinking about me.
Take care all, hugs to the poorly ones and the MIA's.
nan xx

Welcome back Nan. I hope you are now on the mend. You have been missed. And join the scalped brigade! My hairdresser's scissors rang amok on mine this week too. Xx

Hi Chums, sadly I still have the blessed 'Dora the Drain" still in situ The Dr. I saw eventually at the hospital said because of my age (grr) and other health issues (dodgy heart ) he would advise against having my gall bladder removed as I probably wouldn't survive the table.
Both DDs immediately said 'No Way Mum ', much to my annoyance as it would be the best solution, but who am I to argue (although I did ) with the Dr. So apparently I have to wait for the drain to dry up naturally which could take several more months ,but he did say I could at least drive again ,although only short distances.
So I came home feeling extremely fed up and lugging the blessed drain with me. Smart nurses still to attend , and ring daily, so not a lot has changed really,But I guess I will just have to be patient once more. its 17 weeks today since it was attached and it feels like a life time as it does slow me down quite a bit.
But on the bright side its at least sunny today, and DGS Ben is home for the weekend so I shall see him later.
Hope all's well with everyone , sorry if I sound s bit fed up ,but I was so looking forward to being rid of this thing .Ah well onwards and upwards I suppose.Only 9 weeks until I go to the IoW on holiday, but DD and son-in-law will be driving there at least
Cheers chums
