Does an employer need to notify you before auto enrolling you back into pension

So payroll says "your next pay you'll be enrolled in the pension scheme".  You say "I don't want to be cuz it's like a pay cut!" Payroll says "tough. it's the law" and enrolls you anyway.  

Ok so you're forewarned so can maybe wiggle your money around so as to not bounce any DDs or whatever but I suspect that the overall difference is much less than people expect because they won't do all the calcs about how it changes tax, NI, etc.
