Most people's addresses can be easily traced. Does your bank know your present address? In that case it will be on your credit file and in all probability the activity of 2021 will be there, unless you have deliberately ducked and dived in the past two years.

If they are serious about wanting payment they will write and explain what this is
Yes, I have lived at my current address for 15 years. My credit file is showing everything as correct including my address.  My credit file also shows the repayments I am making to the creditors who accepted a repayment plan from me too. Thank you, I will wait for the a letter from Cabots.

Just don't prod the bear, only send the letter if they write to you.
    ...which they may never do.

If they never write to me informing me why they want to speak to me and I continue not taking the calls, does that mean they will they just proceed with taking me to court without prior warning?

No - they are not allowed to do that. Your only issue on that score comes if you move house - at which point you have to balance the risk of writing to them with your new address, against the chances of them ever actually taking action.

The reason for not speaking to them over the phone is twofold - for a start if they actually want to pursue the debt they HAVE to write to you by post. And second, it would not be the first time that something agreed over the telephone has mysteriously disappeared from the record, or indeed been materially altered, subsequently.
Thank you, my anxiety was through the roof over the daily phone calls. I feel much calmer now reading all the advice/info.
  • if its any consolation and helps put your mind at rest. PRA group have been constantly trying to phone me everyday for the past 6 months. I have blocked their number but i can see it on my phone logs. Sometimes they leave a message asking me to ring them but i dont. I assume its because they cant obtain the cca i asked for  over 5 years ago. If they had found it and wanted to threaten or take me to court theyd have to write?. Until then im happy to let them fruitlessly try and call me.

If they do get through to you on the phone, I suggest that you ask them to put everything in writing.
