Full time position and self employed as a second job

Options
Hello,
I'm a single mum, working full time. I earn £1700 and I get top up from Universal Credits. I have the opportunity to do a second job as a self employee earning about £1000 a month. I just don't know how this will affect my current situation if I was to sign as a self-employee (second job) and keep my full time job. All information I seem to find online and in the Gov site is about being self employed as a first job. Anyone in this situation would be great to hear.
Thank you

Hi, if you register for and then sign into, a personal account on the HMRC government site, you can ask them questions and they'll be able to give you the right answers.

You could also ask DWP, as I believe you are supposed to report any changes in your circumstances to them anyway when you are in receipt of benefits.

Given you have posted this in the employment section rather than benefits, what are you actually asking?

Have you checked with your current employer/contract on if you can have a second job?
  • Thanks, I have now moved the query to the Benefits forum as it seems more appropriate. I will also ask to the HRMC, thanks both.
