Temporary part-time contract - any hope of a mortgage?

My relationship broke up a few months ago and I'm living with friends. I have secured a part-time job (19 hrs guaranteed and some overtime) on a temporary contract, and have proceeds of sale of marital home for a deposit. Is there any chance of getting a mortgage when my contract is up to end of March 24?

Possibly, depends on your income and contract position at the point of claiming plus what other debts etc you have.

Thanks DullGreyGuy. I have no debts and just wondered if it would be an absolute No-No as not in permanent employment yet.

I would have thought that any mortgage provider would like a bit more evidence of secure work. Contracts, even part time ones, may be ok but it will depend on what you are looking to buy since you have no other debts. If all you needed was say 5x your salary then you may well be fine. If it was significantly more then, like the rest of us, you're likely to be told no.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
