Old Abbey National debt

Options
Hello, newbie here 👋

I got a text and a letter from Resolvecall that they bought my AbbeyNational debt from Capquest, and would be visiting to discuss.  Debt is about 17 years old, I haven't made any payments for many years, it doesn't show up on my credit report, what do I do?

Abbey National is a bit of a giveaway as they disappeared in 2010.

I think with this one you'd be OK to send a statute barred letter (see the thread in the stickies) and see what comes back, providing (a) you genuinely haven't made payments for over 6 years and (b) there is no court claim on this.

If unsure, a prove-it is the safe option.

Ignore them. Unless they've got a CCJ.

Resolvecall have as much power as next door's cat, and they don't scratch.

Lots of posts on here regarding Resolvecall, do a search for advice on how to deal with them.

Capquest own you debt, send them the "provit letter", available form the stickies, that should put everything on hold for a while, whilst they dig out any evidence of your liability.

However its quite likely the debt will be statute barred anyway, so there is a hybrid letter somewhere, which basically says you don`t recognise the debt, but it would be statute barred anyway, you may need to search for it.

Resolvecall are just collection agents, self employed folk who get paid by results, no power to do anything whatsoever, ignore/engage as you see fit.

A "No Callers" sign in your window/porch helps, as does a notice removing their right of implied access to your property.

Both can also be sent by post.
