Thinking about starting to do IG comps

Hello everyone. After only doing web competitions I can see that there are increasing numbers of IG competitions and I am thinking about starting to do these as well. Do those of you who do IG comps have any top tips? I've set up an account but I have no people to tag. How do I go about getting things going? Many thanks for your insights.

I am in the same boat. I'm sure I did make an account a while back but never actually got round to using it for anything!Di Coke (@ SuperluckyDi) has a YouTube channel with an 'Instagram guide for beginners' on. It was made in 2018, so I'm not sure how relevant it is now, but perhaps a starting point. She does have more up to date ones for Twitter and TikTok she's posted in the last few weeks, so it's possible she might update the IG one too. Good luck!1

Hi 👋
A few tips:
- while setting up your account, post at least a few (non comp) pictures so it looks like a genuine and well used page
- get some followers - there are other websites/fb pages where you can find other comping people to follow/tag
- when tagging for comps do not go crazy with the tagging. Its easy to get carried away when it says unlimited entry but if you tag too much on insta you'll get a temporary ban for looking spammy. Also try and add emojis/text after your tags which also helps you not get temporary banned. I'd recommend up to 4 tags per post.
- use your account to do other things than tag - comment on things without tagging, like some posts, maybe direct message people if you're on friendly terms.
- BEWARE SCAMS - people have been making pages pretending to be companies to try and mine your data for scams etc. There are ways to spot this (low follower count, bios stating "winner selection", asking you to click a link to redeem the prize). When you are selected for a win by a genuine company they will direct message you asking for an address & email (they will rarely ask you to click a link - sometimes they will ask you to email someone though).
Competitions are supposed to be run fairly, however when they aren't its quite difficult to have proof. This is why my advice to people setting up an IG for comping is to make it look genuine. Some companies do not like compers!5 -
