womens' pension contributions

just heard on the radio that the government are not, after all, going to allow older women to 'buy back' national insurance contributions to let them get a full state pension. I'd thought it was a done deal. Doesn't affect me, but I thought others might find it useful.

This doesn't have anything to do with the Government's changes. It was an extra amendment put forward in the Lords which would have enabled women to buy up to nine extra years NICs even if they are beyond the back dating limit ( currently nine years.)
The Govt got defeated over the amendment, and thus hopes were raised they would allow it through, but they've now rejected the idea.Trying to keep it simple...
