I have checked my NI contributions and from 2008 till 2015 i am missing 824 ( the full year) contributions

I was living overseas from 2001 and by 2008 i was self employed with an accountant that i paid all local contributions and tax though.

How do i now consolidate this as i know longer live in Cyprus and am currently UK based,

Have you got a State Pension forecast ?
Check your State Pension forecast - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
    What does it say ?
It is not compulsory to make voluntary contributions for years you have missed, although it is a good idea if they can increase your state pension amount.
If it is to your advantage to fill them, then as you were abroad you may qualify for the cheaper Class 2 contribution rate.
But first tell us the details from your forecat

    • Headline amount that you are forecast to get
    • How many more years going forward available to contribute before State Pension Age
    • What you current entitlement is shown as , and is it up to to April 2022 or April 2023
    • How many full NI years do you hav prior to April 2016
    • How many full NI years do you have after April 2016
    • Is ther a COPE figure mentioned (it will be behind a clickable link that says something like 'like many you were in a contracted out pension scheme at some point) and if so how much is it

As far as I understand it the EU rules on the coordination of social security apply to Cyprus.  As such your UK and Cyprus contribution periods will be aggregated to help you meet any minimum years requirements and you will get a pension from Cyprus based on you contributions there, and one from the UK based on your UK contributions.  If you have more than 10 UK years in your own right, then the EU rules have no impact but they may assist you in Cyprus.

  • Hi Pinnks. Thanks for your reply.

I no longer live in cyprus. How would I collect a cyprus pension.

I'm 44 fyi. So not an immediate problem but trying to collaborate everything. Before starting a new private pension
  • P00sticks. I will get you the other information as soon as I can. Thankyou for your help

You would apply for it via DWP when the time comes.  They will send you a form CFN901 and then liaise with Cyprus, who would contact you for more information or to notify you of your award.  Give the International Pensions Centre a call and they will explain the process to you.
