Giving additional notice & retracting notice

I gave my job 2 months notice instead of the required 1 month as per my contract.
Can I amend this or leave earlier than I suggested my last day?
I’ve not received any confirmation officially from HR.

I don't see why not. Just provide them with a new resignation letter stating you are giving the required 1 month notice and rescinding the previous letter.Personally, I think it's a bad idea to give more than the required notice anyway. You may believe you are doing them a favour by doing so, but there is nothing to stop them saying they are releasing you at the end of the notice period they have to give.1

Best thing as always is to have a conversation... you can certainly submit a new resignation giving one months notice from today but if you want to leave earlier they may be willing to take the one month from the original notice of resignation. Unless you have trade secrets or they are struggling to replace you (or think they will) then most want people out as soon as is practical as someone working their notice is never the most productive and not great for moral3

Why would you want to? What happens if the new job falls through in the first month? There's no obligation on your current employer to let you withdraw your notice.r22987 said:I gave my job 2 months notice instead of the required 1 month as per my contract. Can I amend this or leave earlier than I suggested my last day?I’ve not received any confirmation officially from HR.0 -
They dont have to "let them", the OP can just resign now and start the notice period as per the contract from tomorrow.Andy_L said:

You can gie them a revised notice letter and your one month will run from today.
You would be on much shakier ground if you wanted your one month to run from your original lettter, but tonce you have put in the new letter you can ask.All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0
