State Pension - NI Top up

Can you please explain what happens if I top up my NI contributions for years that are not full please?
If I am already in receipt of state pension, and have spare monies to enable me to increase my weekly pension, then once the additional payment is made is the pension payment backdated to when I first took my pension?
I cannot find this information on the government website.

No, there is no backdating like that.
Best case scenario is it will be increased effective from when you make the payment.
Are you certain voluntary contributions for the year(s) you plan on paying for will actually increase your pension?1 -
After adding extra years, there is no backdating of any increased state pension, it simply increases at the point the additional years were added. Adding years won't necessarily increase your state pension however. What is your current weekly amount, what years aren't full?1

Last three years are not full. Two need £824.20 and the other needs £719.10 to give me a full pension.0

Will you actually receive full benefit from the third year ? What is your current weekly pension ?
