Council Tax Reduction

Options
Hi, I have been unemployed since 08/22 I have no income and have lived off my savings since then.
Recently I have been advised that I may eligible for a council tax reduction.
I current receive a 25%single occupancy discount, would I be eligible for a further reduction?

    Contact your council as they are the only ones who can tell you if you are eligible for CTR. The 25% SPD is not related to income
    If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

    To meet their criteria you must have less than £16kin savings so that counts me out.

    Well your on the very best website for money saving and if your currently unemployed that will help.
    Check if you can claim any other unemployment benefits.
    Could you rent out a room ?
    Find part time work ?
    Good Luck

    Yes, that's a usual condition for means-tested benefits

    Just out of interest do you know how the system works for example if I were to give my brother a 16k gift just before I applied for a council tax discount I am presuming this would raise a red flag with the council in question?
    You know how long a time period there must be before the 16k gift would cause an issue?
    * I'm asking for a friend :-)
