MSE blog: Save on BRAND-NEW clothes... by buying second-hand

I have been buying Jermyn Street shirts for husband from charity shops for many years as he is heavy on his shirts. But prices have gone up, condition and quality are down. At one point he had 30 shirts, now he has about 12.
I don't buy much from charity shops as I live in jeans and chinos with t-shirts. I have used clothes agencies and eBay as well as department stores. I wouldn't bother with Next, Zara or Primark.

When I visited over there, I did a lot of shopping for clothing, especially jumpers, in the charity shops. I still have a couple of jumpers from the Oxfam shop in Dublin. I understood that they were half thrift shop and half fair trade goods shop and used to buy toiletries and tea there also. Don't know if they still have them, but at one point I managed to visit 13 charity shops in Ayr and 13 in Coleraine. Bought a lot at the Sue Ryder shops, Help the Aged, and several other charity shops as that is where I got most of my souvenirs for family members who are all into old things - except what I used to get attached to the magazines. Loved that as we don't have attachments in our magazines (the diary was my favorite).1
