Hi all
Been a while since I last posted on here!
Anyway, I'm down to one last debt to pay off, via a collection agency. About £4,700 to go at £150 per month, so just under 3 years. woohoo!
I had a letter off the company saying if I pay extra off before a certain date they would match that up to £1,000, so by taking £1k out of my savings I could virtually half the remaining debt and be clear within 18 months.
Now, given the original debt was just shy of £20k and I've already paid over £15k back for a debt which probably cost them a fraction of that how much scope do you think there is for a call to them saying I'll pay you £2k and call it quits?
It's taken a while to get here but I do have sufficient savings at last to pay back half and not leave myself short, and it would be great going into Christmas to know that after 8 years and the best part of £60k I'm in the clear!
Do you think they'd go for a couple of grand? Especially as they are already willing to write-off 1k (20% of the debt).
Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas to you all. I hope 2008 brings you all closer to being debt-free!
