I am getting a private pension and also have a full time job, my combined income is below the 40% tax threshold. Does it make any difference where I allocate my £1257 allowance to?

Not really. But some options make life simpler and less prone to you owing, or being owed, tax.
What are the codes in use at the moment?0 -
