Thank you @elsiepac
May Grocery Budget for two pensioners, £150.
My aim is to avoid wasting any of the food we have stored in the pantry and freezer. We are eating well using the WW2 ration portions.9 -
Count me in, please, @elsiepac. Thank you again for running this thread.
We'll go with the usual £140 for the month
but it may increase depending on what is left over from April. It is for two adults and covers all groceries purchased in supermarkets (food, toiletries and cleaning products). Exclusions are meat purchased at the butcher (paid from the Meat Fund), C0stc0 bulk spends (paid from the Bulk Fund) and wine/beer/spirits (purchased with the Booze Fund). Our month will run from the 1st to the 31st May.

Can you put me down for £250 for the month please?
I did an inventory of the freezer today (with wooly gloves on!) and OMG I had no idea what was in there! Apparently I have 5 bags of peas. 5! I also found 2 bags of sweet potato fries so I immediately went and took them off the grocery order I've got coming on Thursday. At least that's a win.
At some point in the past I bought a bag of frozen avocado chunks. Who can tell why. 🤷 I've got 8 blocks of cheese in there too. Looks like there will be a lot of cheesy peas in my future!
I'm on a mission to clear it all out so I can properly defrost it now (and some of the stuff at the bottom is about 3 years old now so definitely needs using!). It should help with the budget at least. Wish me luck!11 -

When I had a chest freezer I had a couple of baskets that sat on top so that I could keep desserts and veg seperate. These then lifted out so that I could rummage for other stuff underneath. If you have a reasonably new freezer I think you can even order them to fit your model. I always found it difficult to get to the bottom though. I am quite short with big boobs! I will leave you all to work out the problems I had! 😅craft stash 2023 =161, 2024 = 119 2025 = £17.98 spent, 128 made and 5 mended,
