Good morning folks. After the glory of a beautiful sunrise yesterday today is just the opposite. Grey with hints of blue. I'm off for a reviving cup of coffee.

My lovely friends left for home yesterday morning, it was sad to see them go but great that they came. On their final night the stars came out in force again. After they were gone I put on a white wash load, took rubbish to the tip and popped into the wee hardware shop for a broom handle. This is to be used for my shoulder exercises. The day was almost warm, no wind and no rain. The washing dried outside whilst I pottered around inside with the front door open. My appointment letter for physio arrived though the date is when I'm away, a wee chore for Monday.Today I plan to watch some programmes I recorded last week. And I need to start organising stuff for my trip. I'm going down to the NE to watch the coronation with friends, travelling back up the next day to Glasgow and finally flying off the day after that. A little complicated but enjoyable.Great challenges Coxy and Camelot, it's impressive stuff. My only challenge for charity was taking part in a 24 hour swim where I did 100 lengths of a 25m pool non-stop. Well, nearly non-stop. I was much younger and so much fitter then!I hope that everyone is doing OK. It's still a bit odd here. Happy Sunday to all.8

Good morning, thanks for starting Gers.
It's a fine ish start here, yesterday was sunny most of the day, no rain! It was chilly though, well I thought It was.
I went to a nearby shopping centre to pick up a blouse I'd ordered from M&S, but while I liked the style, the colour wasn't what I thought it would be, so it's going back today.
Not much else happening today.
Hope everyone has a good day, take care folks.9 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS for kicking off. It's a grey start here too although I don't think rain is forecast. Yesterday was quite sunny but it felt nippy out of the sun. I took my bus ride along the valley and I was quite pleased to see no more shops had closed down since my last visit. Saying that, though, it's mostly charity shops anyway! The little market had dwindled though with more empty stalls than set up ones. I had taken Dolly Trolley with me and it ended up quite heavy with bits picked up here and there.
Plans are fluid today. When laid in bed I was planning no end of jobs I would do today. Now up I am thinking differently as usual! I made some cottage pies yesterday for the freezer and left one in the fridge. So just some veg to prep to go with it and it will be a nice easy lunch.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, getting better or MIA. Which reminds me, has anybody heard from NAN recently as she seems to have been absent for a while. Take care all and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"8 -

Morning everyone
Bit dull here but it's to get out nicer later. Going down to mam and dads for a cuppa and to write his reply to eldest DDs email this morning then after lunch I'm taking little one to a childrens ballet The Ugly Duckling. First one she'll have been to so I'm interested to see how she likes it...my girls both thought it was really strange that no one spoke when they first went. We might go for a play in the park afterwards.
We had a lovely visit to Alnwick Gardens yesterday - the blossom trees in the orchard were beautiful - we sat on a big swing and ate our packed lunch - at 11am! - and watched two ducks waddling about. For anyone who hasn't been it's an orchard of hundreds of Japanese cherry blossom trees with about 50 big wooden swings in amongst the trees - it really is beautiful. The blossom was almost all out and there was a lovely scent. We sat there for ages. There was a pirate treasure trail for children to do which little one thoroughly enjoyed - we came across various pirate skeletons - one was in a crocoldiles mouth and also found a shark swimming in a pond - real ducks were swimming around beside it! She had her wellies on so she had a paddle - in the summer she had shorts and t shirt and I let her get soaked but she was very sensible. We finished off with hot chocolate and cake sitting outside watching the fountains.
Well I'd better go and get dressed - hope everyone has a good day today x9 -
Good morning chums, a beautiful spring morning here in Kent, with the promise of more sun later as well. I've just had a walk down my garden to look at the smashing work my DGS Ben did over the last couple of days. He has dug out a patch and planted 16 Javelin Pentland early seed potatoes, and its looking excellent. He also yesterday planted 20 onion sets in an old butler sink that was at the bottom of the garden .I'm so proud of him as he has never grown anything in his life before, and as he was home from his school teaching job in London, he decided that as his Mums garden is mostly flowers in large pots (she has three dogs, a Westie, a Jack Russell ,and a retired grey hound all rescue dogs ) her garden isn't practical for veg growing. But mine is as its about 75ft by 20ft mostly grass and a small patio.I used to garden quite a bit ,but age and clapped out joints meant I just have a chap come in once a fortnight to cut the grass and keep it tidy, so its mainly shrub and lawn.
But Ben is a very thorough sort of chap and did his research first and worked out where it could go and what he could have a go at growing I said spuds and onions are the relatively easier stuff to grow for his first time garden project plus I have to take photos on my phone and send them to him in London as he is going to use them to show his inner city children that potatoes don't just come from Tescos. He teaches year five primary children and has got them involved in looking after a bonsai tree he bought for the classroom. The children had a vote and their classroom 'pet' is called 'Bob the Bonsai' and they have to look after it carefully (which they do ).
Ben spent some time in Japan a couple of years ago and loves the place and would love to return one day
He has taught the children about his travels, as during the summer breaks from Uni he hitched all over the place and visited Canada,USA and Europe ,but his favourite place was Japan. He said although pricy for tourists, it was possible to visit as a student, and live off noodles for awhileand said the Japanese people he met were very kind, and extremely helpful to the young hard up student who wanted to see a bit of their country. He is hoping in the summer to go wild camping with his pals in Sweden. He enjoys when visiting a country not going to the tourist hot spots but to actually get to see the 'real' country and meet the inhabitants.Naturally his favourite books are travel ones and his 'bible' is the Lonely Planet guides. His ambition one day is to visit Mongolia to see the huge statue of Ghengis Khan on the plains of Ulaanbaatar !!
This morning he is off back to the city as he is back at work tomorrow, but he comes down fairly regularly to visit his parents and me which is nice .
Today also I am very proud that my nephew, Rev Hugh W Bearn is being inaugurated in his new church in Monaco by HRH Prince of Monaco at a service there .He will be the new vicar of the English Anglican church there of St Pauls. His previous 'living' was at St Anns in Tottington near Bury in Lancashire. Sadly because of being stuck in the UK at the moment I shan't be there to see it but his brother is going to film it for me. I wish him well in his new life in the sun.
Right, time for me to get a wriggle on, and the kettle, for another cuppa I wish all the poorlies and people who are feeling sad a good day and hopefully the sun will shine down on some of you today

Hi everyone,
Blimey Jackie, bit of a change from Tottington (where my dad's side set up home after moving from Northamptonshire during the industrial revolution) to Monaco, good luck to him.
Coxy and Camelot, wot Gers said. How many miles are you averaging a day Coxy? I could probably do one or two days but then wouldn't be able to move for about a week.
Twink, I saw your name on the thread yesterday, albeit with a new user id, it would be lovely to find out what you have been up to.
Yesterday was a bit meh, Esben was definitely under the weather (probably from his vaccinations yesterday), which made life tricky as meltdown mode was never far away. He's woken up today full of the joys of Spring thank goodness and the family have gone off to see a children's film so we have a couple of hours of peace.
Chris has got two weeks before he starts a three month sabbatical, he is really looking forward to spending more time with Nate and Crystal, they have really been struggling lately.
I can't remember if I said Steve has been struggling with a membrane growing over the lens in his good eye, unfortunately the waiting list is so long we have decided to pay to have it done. He rang the hospital on Friday and will be having it done on Tuesday, I feel a bit guilty jumping the queue but sight is so important and he's struggling with it now.
Have a good day.11 -
Morning All
Another mile this morning although it must have been the slowest ever, I really am struggling to find energy at the moment. Goodness knows how I'll cope tomorrow when I go back to work!
Well done to your Nephew Jackie.
Hope Steve's op goes well Snoozer.
Alnwick Gardens sounds magical dp1, maybe next year I'll make it down for the blossom. Everything was just finishing when I went last September but it was still spectacular.
Don't tell Ruby about your fish Izzy, she'll catch it and have it for tea!
I've some shopping to do in a bit then I can relax, may have a nanna nap later.
Have a peaceful Sunday, take care. XX10 -
Morning all...Kind of weird still, what with Nels going and Florencems problems, it's all a bit unsettling. I'm at sixes and sevens...Haven't really done much this weekend. Went out with friends for lunch yesterday, watched a series, The Rig, kind of interesting and am playing games today.Izzy, you did make me laugh with tales of your fish
camelot, so you've just gotten over covid and you're still swimmimg miles? maybe just leave it till you're fully recovered?
Jackie, how very cool for him, congratulations to him and to Ben and your garden
snoozer, sometimes, if you can afford it, then it just makes sense. Gers, glad you enjoyed having friend time...TA, no nanny hasn't been on since the end of March..bit worried about her to be honest. Anyway, take care all, and carpe diem....
