Sainsbury’s- Payment Problem

Good Evening
If anyone shops at Sainsbury’s online you might know they have some serious issues this week. It seemed to start on Monday when shoppers were trying to checkout. They said initially it was nothing to do with them it was a problem with Visa and MasterCard but it seemed to then develop into something else. We have had days of problems, with our weekly delivery and payment for the shopping. We received an email to say payment hadn’t gone through and we needed to call to pay. My husband eventually got through after being on hold for 59 mins, it seems there are lots of customers in the same situation.
The reason for this post is that they have taken payment for our shopping twice from our credit card! However even more concerning there are a further two payments for the shopping sitting in the pending transactions section waiting for payment. We’ve had to freeze our credit card to try and stop them taking anymore payments which is really inconvenient as we use the card quite a bit. I have been in touch with the Executive office at Sainsbury’s to try and sort this out. Not easy as I’m profoundly deaf and cannot use the telephone.
I just wanted to make anyone who shops at Sainsbury’s online aware and to check their accounts carefully this week I wouldn’t like anyone else to be in this position.

I was one of the many who had problems on Monday afternoon, but managed to check out fine around 8pm and haven't had issues since. I think the issue was with their payment processor, who appeared to be Barclays, based on the error page I got. They were silly to blame 'visa and mastercard' when Amex wasn't working either, and there wasn't an issue on any other site.
I hope you get the issue sorted quickly (with at least a decent gift card for your troubles) and this multiple payment problem isn't affecting too many others.

Hi, many thanks for the heads up.
My daughter and I have a weekly online Sainsbury's shop but we processed the order and payment yesterday and all items appeared today, as planned.
Hopefully they just had a glitch - it certainly seems to have been sorted out as far as we're concerned.
I hope your problems are sorted soon too.
