I stupidly forgot I had opened a Help2Buy account in 2016 or something like that with NATWEST. I couldn’t really afford to save into it.
Then when I could afford to do so, I opened an account with Santander and started saving into that one.
Two years later, I am ready to purchase my home. My solicitor tells me it’s the final hurdle and to request a closure of the account.
I do so but upon her requesting the bonus, she tells me that she has received a reply to say I had opened an ISA earlier so can’t can only use the bonus on the first one I opened. I have £0.46p in that one. I request the closure of the one too immediately out of shock ( stupidity again?!)
Is there any way I can still get the bonus at all? I am devastated about losing out on
that much money
Any advice much appreciated

If the accounts are closed then you've lost any opportunity to access a bonus from the larger one - if they were still open then you may have been able to transfer one into the other, but it sounds like it's too late for that now. At least if it's only two years after starting to fund the invalid second account, the lost bonus will only be in £1,500 territory rather than the full £3K, although I don't suppose that'll be much consolation....0

Thanks very much for the info. I missed out on about £2500. Lesson learned 😢0
