I'll take a look at the modeller again.

It will probably be a thing I see.

If we hadn't had the Rona Virus I'd have gone already. But this new WFH world is making me struggle to find it in me to press the button.
I'd love to be gone already.  Quite a long way to go yet though sadly.

WFH has complicated things for a lot of potential retirees I imagine.  I think when the time comes it will keep me working longer too - especially if I can combine it with part time.  If I could wrangle 3 days a week with very little onsite I'd find it hard to say no to staying another year or two.

I'm beginning to think that's my best option 😀

I think the additional workload that came from WFH and the (positive) experience of part-time working actually swung it for me - a glimpse of what life could be ... I'm finishing this summer :)

This! Whilst my department has been back to almost normal pre-covid on-campus teaching for the past 2 academic years, being able to WFH on a non-teaching day, or WFH in the morning and come in for afternoon meetings/teaching etc. has now become usual and acceptable. I enjoy this flexibility, but want more of it. Essentially, this experience cemented the plan to go after the next academic year once I hit 55.

    Anyone considered Flexible Retirement?

Personally I thought this made more sense as an idea pre-pandemic where you were on site 100% of the time and part time was much more rare.  I can still see it as a last resort if you can't get part time as an option instead but otherwise it seems like it would have a negative impact on your total pension whilst simultaneously making the income drop in full retirement more stark.

Perhaps there's some nuance I've missed though.
