National express 1 adult book 2 seats?

Looking at prices for both National Express and train.
National express is cheaper by at least £60 - booking as 2 adults. This is compared to 1 adult for a train.
Is it ok to book as 2 adults to have 2 seats just for myself?
It probably is, probably just me overthinking that other passengers may think its free and its not.

Why not book just one ticket? I've never had to sit next to anyone on either a National Express coach (or a Flixbus in Europe). If you book 2 seats - just use them both. You'll have proof of buying both of them.#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3661

A seat that doesn't have anyone sitting on it is a free seat. You'd be wasting your money.

Actually, there is a fair and wider question here.
What is National Express / Megabus (etc). policy for people who need an extra seat next to them:- Person of size who cannot fit in a single seat/use a single seat belt, or would potentially injure (by cramping) user of the adjoining seat because of their size on a full bus?
- Injured (e.g. large leg cast) so can't sit properly within the single seat
- large fragile musical instrument.
(I know the answer to this one--is not/was not a supported reason for extra seat booking on National Express, all large items in the luggage area underneath, and most professional musicians simply will not risk this with an instrument costing £5k+, sometimes a lot more, and could be damaged/rendered unusable without specialist repair by a sudden movement even in a hard side case)
The first case is also relevant to (some) trains (I'm thinking all seated trains like Lumo)0 -

Having said that I've never had to sit next to anyone on the NE bus but I imagine routes vary.

Not sure whether OP wants to sit alone or is it possible that 2 adults are cheaper than one? Surely not? 🤔0

How is NE these days?
I haven't used them since the £1 fun fares
