Switching to Part time Work to finish ACCA studies

Options

Hi All

After taking around a 2-year break and after a change in work circumstances due to company relocation, I am hoping to restart my studies.

I have all my experience signed off and only need to complete the 7 remaining exams. Due to saving a lot of money during the various lockdowns, I was thinking of working part-time to cover my living expenses and to spend the remaining time studying to get this completed in 1.5 to 2 years.

My plan would be to attend courses in full in person which would include tuition and revision as I was never able to do this previously. I was wondering if anyone had a similar experience or had any advice as it would be greatly appreciated.

Not clear from your post whether you are still in the same job or the 'change' due to relocation means you are now looking for work? Either way, the starting point is whether you have an employer/can find an employer who is looking for someone to work part-time (and with even luck might even contribute to your study costs, especially if you have a track record of passing everything first time).

It sounds a pretty sensible plan, provided that you can find quality course providers who offers the subjects you need at the time you would like to study them.

Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

I managed to do a full time job and all CIMA exams (with BPP evening & weekend courses).

Hard work though and still needed 'me' time outside of studying

If your experience record is complete I assume you've undertaken work covered by the outstanding exams.
If that's the case do you need to undertake full time study?
Additionally, if you then look for work you'll be competing with candidates who managed to work and study at the same time. In all my years in work I only ever encountered two other accountants who studied full time, both worked for the Government.
Just checked, there are only 13 ACCA exams now? There were 24 when I qualified
