Tracking a pension ... Colonial Mutal

Hi, Can anyone assist me please? I am trying to track down my brother's occupational pension which he contributed to in the 1980s. It was originally with Reed Elsevier Pension Scheme but was then passed on to Colonial Mutual which seems to be no more. My brother, an ex journalist, but now in poor health , thought his pension went down with Robert Maxwell, but Reed Elsevier Pension Scheme say it did exist, before they passed it on to Colonial Mutual. I understand it may have gone on to First State Investments but am having difficulty finding it because of the title. I did see a thread for it once on here but can't seem to locate it. They may be based in Edinburgh? Any help will be greatly appreciated from you good people. Thank you.

Most of Colonial Mutual's UK book ended up with Winterthur Life. Which in turn was bought by AXA Sun Life, which in turn was bought by Friends Provident (rebranded as Friends Life), which in turn was bought by Aviva

Might be worth trying https://epa.towerswatson.com/accounts/reps/
Even if they aren't administering the scheme your brother has benefits in, they probably get asked a similar question from time to time so may be able to help.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!1 -

OP, has your brother yet reached SPA?
If not, has he obtained a State Pension Forecast?

Does it show a COPE?
Would he wish to submit an SAR to HMRC?

I discussed this very journey on another thread only a few days ago where I marvelled how my insurance policy travelled to countries I'd never managed to yet visit such as Switzerland and Australia.
I'd check with Aviva if I were you.

Not sure if I am replying in the appropriate way as I expected a reply option but using what's available.
My brother was of state pension age and had his state pension. Sadly has recently passed away.0 -
Sadly has recently passed away.
You are facing a difficult time.
If you are not your late brother's executor, you could pass the task of tracing the pension to him/her.
