Bank Accounts for Bankruptcy

Options
Just a quick update, which some may find helpful in the future.

Starling have confirmed that I am okay to carry on using the account. Their default stance is bankrupts can use their accounts, as long as there is no overdraft, and no debt with them, although they do take this on a case by case basis. Good to know their default is acceptance though.

Monza appear to have the same policy. I opened a new account with them shortly after going bankrupt, to be prepared in case Starling froze my account. They appear to have no issue with bankrupts opening a new account with them.

Really useful to read about your experience, thanks @kevker23, and good news about your Starling account.

There are also some details in the table in MSE's Top basic bank accounts guide in case it's useful for anyone else coming to this thread.

    Hello there,
If I may add my bit to the post,
I'm bankrupt science January before going bankrupt I had Lloyds and HSBC account opened. I did inform my banks about my situation also OR send letters to banks disclaiming all interest in accounts.
I was able to carry on using my accounts but bean downgraded to simple accounts and all procedures took around 2-3 weeks ( was not able to use accounts during this time )
In mean time I opened basic Santander account I got almost instant decision from Santander and banking details to follow in few days.

Those days I'm guessing banks won't make to much fuss as long u are not in debt with them and have simple account.

I can recommend as well Revolut or similar online account as additional alternative.
