Hi,
basically I discovered at the beginning of March that fir the last 18 months the clocking in/out machine had been taking off and extra 45mins when I leave for lunch. We get half hour, but this is as well as the half hour.

I pointed this out, they came back with a figure. I’d requested the time sheets and said I was going through them myself and would have them done by the 3rd, which I did. I’ve been through every day, put it all into a chart which has taken me 3 whole days, and worked it all out, and it’s another 50% again of what they said. When I asked for their calculations they said they’re were none, they just added it up and shredded their workings. Why would you do that if you know someone else is looking into it? Surely you’d keep your workings to prove what you think is right? Anyway, since sending them email this Sunday night, so it was there Monday morning, I’ve heard nothing. I told them what I’d worked out, what were their thoughts and please could they acknowledge my email asap.
Now I don’t know what to do. I know they’re avoiding the issue, and I’m pretty sure they just plucked a figure out of the air that they thought would shut me up!
It’s not even down to the weird machine setting, as our tunes are sent to the area manager who is supposed to confirm that they are correct or not.
I don’t really know where to go from here. I also had a holiday issue (which I’ve had before with them) which they just ignore and say they are right. To be honest, when I found my hours to be wrong, it’s exactly how I suspected they would react 😕

Hi, has the company now mended the clocking in and out machine? And has anyone else had this same problem, or was it just you? 18 months seems a long time for it to have been out of order without them taking any action at all.
Since you have had no response to your recent email, could you ask to have a word with the area manager? Or the person you sent the email to? Or preferably both (if it isn't the same person of course).
This matter does need to be discussed properly, though, in a professional manner. Especially as you also have another issue with your holidays. If you are in a union you can ask for your representative to attend any such meeting with you.
If you're not in a union and all else fails, you could try contacting acas, to see if they have any information or advice.

Hi, thanks for your reply. It was more a case of the settings were wrong, and then my area manager not noticing on the weekly timesheets that mine were different to everyone else.It was the HR manager I emailed and she’s ignoring it. There is no Union.I wanted to get a response before I contacted ACAS

Thanks Savvy Sue! Do you mean any one can join one even if their employer doesn’t have one?dfw 247!!0

You can join any union you wish to. Obviously, in some sectors, bespoke unions for want of a better word have specific industry experience which may well be useful but you are not obliged to or precluded from joining any union at all. If you don't have one that immediately springs to mind, Unite is the largest UK trade union and has experience in pretty much every area of employment.1

And there's a union finder website which helps you work out the most appropriate union for you.Signature removed for peace of mind0
