Wrong Council Tax Band

Hi,
I know we’re in the wrong band. I wish I’d known that I could have easily challenged it when we first bought the house in 2011. I’ve tried to get evidence together but keep failing to find comparable properties in my locality. Houses here were built by different builders and there is literally no other like mine to compare to for the appeal. Our builder built 2 larger semis next door which are two bands lower but you can’t compare semis to detached. It galls me that properties in the street are lower or equal bands but are selling for sometimes £200k more than my modest two bedroomed detached would fetch. I’m at a loss. With the latest rise, we’re paying over £270 per month and would like to move but who’ll pay that? The only consolation is that I’d advise a new buyer to challenge it but we will miss out and as recent retirees, we could really do with a rebate now.
