Global Debt Recovery

I've just received a letter from Global Debt Recovery which uses my full name, but doesn't give any information, other than a request to call them, along with a reference number. I'm loathe to ring them up based on the letter, which looks very much like a scam - no contact name mentioned or anything.

If it was legitimate, surely there would be more information (e.g. the company they'd been hired to work for?)

I've looked on the forum and found a template letter to send in reply, but this assumes I have more information than the letter gives me. Is it still worth sending?

Yes, that's not very helpful. If I were to send you a letter saying 'please phone me', it's entirely reasonable for you to ask 'Why?'

So I think you ignore them until they come up with a reason.

  • No such thing as global debt recovery because debt stops at boarders, each country has different laws so would involve lots of different lawyers in each country the costs would be huge so ignore this correspondence.
The global facts are Banks work the same around the world within the country's laws.
So UK Credit Reference Companies only keep UK debt records.
This company like all debt collection is based on intimidation/threats so restructure your finances/assets by compartmentalizing them.

I appreciate you are trying but basic English knowledge should enable you to differentiate between a generic phrase and a Company name?

    Twice?
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

Tony - I've just been notified of nine contributions to threads I had subscribed to. Six of them were yours, going back to threads that had been abandoned 2 weeks ago.

It's great that you want to contribute.

Global Debt Recovery are a Debt Collection Agency based in New Malden, they've been around for many years, and they are typical of the genre.
