Delivery Passes

Just an observation, but I see that Asda now only seem to offer 12 month delivery passes (which are more expensive than the old 6 monthly ones). Tesco offer both 6 & 12 month still, but "from 2 May, the minimum basket charge is increasing to £5. The minimum basket value for home delivery will increase to £50, Click+Collect will remain at £25".

Asda only started doing them last year from memory, it was either monthly or yearly. I have an Asda 12 month pass so don’t remember them doing a 6 month one, saves me so I’m happy.First article I found on Google was this, in fact every article I’ve found didn’t ever mention a 6 month one? https://www.lincolnshirelive.co.uk/news/local-news/asdas-6-month-pass-could-7392674
Asda has two different passes available to shoppers: the midweek pass and the anytime pass. The midweek pass offers delivery and collection slots on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for £35 a year.
The anytime pass offers the same on any day of the week and can either be purchased at £6 a month, or for a one-off payment of £72. Asda says that based on one shop per week, at a delivery cost of £4.50, this would result in a saving of £299 a year.
There are some catches, however. The delivery must come to a minimum of £40, and you are only entitled to one delivery a day.

Well my fourth consecutive 6 monthly pass from Asda has just expired. I figured I'd try a few other supermarkets and if they weren't as good then sign up for a further 6 months at Asda. That'll teach me for not checking that 6 monthly passes were still available before letting my old one expire! TBH it never occurred to me to do so.Stompa0

I have had delivery passes from Ocado and ASDA.
Generally, you don't get priority slots at Christmas and Ocado charges delivery pass holders for Christmas slots, with a higher minimum order as well. Ocado makes the week before Christmas, subject to tgus, too.
The theory is, that you pay upfront for a pass and then if you use the pass often enough, delivery becomes free.
If on the other hand, you shop for offers and cover the delivery cost, the delivery is also free, without your money being tied up for six months or a year and if you don't use the pass enough to make delivery free, then you are losing out.
Ocado has some offers for those with delivery passes. They tend to be on items like laundry powder.
Really, it's a wheeze to tie you to the supermarket, as you hope to get free delivery.0 -
