Mortgage after bankruptcy

Hi all, I was discharged at 6 months from bankruptcy in 2009. Fast forward to now, and I have a good credit rating 855 when I went on Check my File. Everything else is in order. I wonder whether a 14 year old bankruptcy will affect me getting a mortgage. Has anyone else been successful in getting a mortgage after being discharged from bankruptcy? I'm so worried about it. It obviously isn't showing on my files, and when asked if anything adverse in the last 6 years I could honestly answer NO. Do they go further than that and check the London Gazette? And if so, will something that old be an issue? Thanks in advance.

Once you hit 3 years discharged, there are generally a few options at reasonable rates.
There becomes more and more as they years progress. Once you hit 6 years, you should have the pick of lenders*.

    * - Some lenders have records going back far further than 6 years. That could affect your options, Natwest/RBS for example will decline you if they had to write off a penny (bear in mind as an example, Natwest/RBS also covered Tesco credit cards back in the day, mint credit cards, shell and a few others). Other lenders may have a similar stance, I just wanted to give an example.

Oh goodness, that's such a relief - thanks for the quick answer. I have in the meantime been googling such questions - and it seems Nationwide consider after 3 years, so I am thinking 14 isn't going to phase them, especially as my credit file is really good now, not even a late payment anywhere. We pretty much have the agreement with Nationwide, it is with the underwriters, but when I saw the solicitor fees and noted the 'bankruptcy search fee' I thought they are going to look further than a credit file as they surely can't charge for reading what everyone else can read. Although quite frankly charging almost £5 for a quick google of the London Gazette seems a bit steep.

£5 is 30 minutes work on minimum wage. Doing the search, saving it to file, updating the system etc.

Its not just the time.  It's the knowledge of knowing where to look, how to deal with it, the liability they carry if they do something wrong, and the costs of doing it.
