Whether they paid the National insurance is totally irrelevant.Deleted_User said:thanks everyone for your replies, i dont understand it as i was employed and not sure why my employers would not deduct and pay the correct figures, i was in continuous employment with no changes?
In fact whether you even had any National Insurance deducted is irrelevant as you can accrue a qualifying year by earning at the LEL. Which doesn't involve you paying any NI.
What is important is whether your earnings details were reported to HMRC.
Payment of the NI (if any was deducted) is purely a matter between your employer and HMRC, it's not your business and has no bearing on your NI record.1 -
Well after all the debacle of the past month or so trying to get through on the phones to check my NI Contributions and Voluntary Contributions needed, now I cannot access the online Gov.UK site to check what years I have to pay! Yesterday was the same. What is wrong with this department? How can they be so appalling at answering phones and now have their website, which at least helped us see what years were outstanding, not working? Absolutely abysmal service. It just states “Sorry, there is a problem with the service”.
My only option now then is to try to get through on the phone and, if I am lucky enough not to be cut off, wait at least an hour or so for someone to answer.
Is anyone else having problems accessing these pages on the website?

Are you aware the deadline has been extended to July? This issue is partly that everyone has left this to the last minute even though (in theory at least) this information was all available for years and people could have sorted this out earlier.Gollygumdrops said:Well after all the debacle of the past month or so trying to get through on the phones to check my NI Contributions and Voluntary Contributions needed, now I cannot access the online Gov.UK site to check what years I have to pay!
