Buying New build homes - is the developer required to provide the estimated date of completion?

Hello everyone, I'm already very upset and I don't know what to do, so I decided to write here and ask for help.
We found our dream home and reserved it in July 2022, with estimated completion date December 2022.
We were selling our home so contracts has been exchanged in December 2022, with new completion date - January 2023.
In January we've been told the new final completion date would be in March 2023.
After a few phone calls they said it'll be more like beginning of April.
We had our first appointment in the first week of March where we were able to see the house for the first time, the house didn't look like it will be completed in March (plasterboards stage) and we've been told it'll be ready end of April/May.
We received a message from the kitchen company that our kitchen is being delivered on 18th of April, so it already seems like there might be more delays.
We tried to contact them, no response at all.
We contacted the estate agents - they said that they are not able to give us any dates as the developer won't tell them anything they will only inform our solicitors two weeks before completion.
So it can be next month, or next year. They won't tell us anything - and here's my question, is the developer required to provide the estimated date of completion?
I believe at this stage they should be able to tell us if it'll be another month, two or more. Is there anything we can do?

When you exchanged contracts there should have been a long stop date inserted. This is the date by which, if the house still hasn’t been completed, you can pull out of the purchase without incurring any penalty. It’s usually set 3-6 months post the initial estimated completion date at exchange OR the expiry of your mortgage offer, if applicable (whichever is earliest).
Until that date arises (your solicitor shouldn’t have let you exchange without it), it’s just a waiting game unfortunately1 -
As above. Look to see what the long-stop date is on the contract and read the terms and conditions relating to that date.1

Unfortunately they can keep pushing it out until it's ready, my sisters was delayed by 12 months and she moved in 16 months after viewing it.
If you have a long stop date in your contract you can pull out if that date passes, if not then all you can do is wait.

You've exchanged contracts. All that you (and they) are required to do is in the contract. So read it! But I very much doubt there's any requirement in there to give you updates.1

As others said above, the contract should have had a long stop date. That's assuming you didn't use the developer's "recommended" solicitor.0
